Group 1 Presentation: Communication and Cultures The presentation I made about different cultures and talking with people from other places was really cool. First, we looked at how some cultures like to have lots of fun and enjoy themselves, while others follow strict rules. I gave an example about Americans liking personal enjoyment and not worrying much about others, compared to Hispanic and Asian cultures that care a lot about family and community. Then, I talked about problems we might face when talking with people from different cultures. Feeling nervous and not understanding each other because of assumed differences can happen. I said it's not good to think our way is the best, called ethnocentrism, or using stereotypes about other cultures. Also, even if we speak the same language, our communication codes might be different, causing confusion.
